This interactive one-day programme provides a comprehensive overview of the legal system, its framework and culture.
IT COVERS: the court structure in England & Wales (civil & criminal), the court hierarchy, magistrates & judges, the respective roles of barristers and solicitors and other legal professionals, proceedings in court, litigation terminology, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
Absolutely essential for those whose translation or interpreting work involves them in the civil or criminal litigation process or touches on liability issues.

COURSE TWO: SATURDAY the 15th of October, 2011
Criminal Law & Procedure for Legal Interpreters & Translators
One-Day Course: Max. 18 Participants
This interactive one-day course COVERS: basic legal principles governing the elements of criminal liability, accessories, inchoate offenses (e.g. "attempts"), voluntary and involuntary manslaughter. Procedure after arrest, bail, pleas, magistrates’ courts (composition and hearings), youth courts, prosecuting authorities, crown court & summary trials and appeals, types of sentence, the legal profession, judges.
All are explained in detail in this terminology-rich one-day programme.
