Plunet Unveils Version 8.0
15/11/20 10:37
2020-11-10, Berlin, Germany – Plunet has launched the new version 8.0 of the leading business and translation management system. The new release focuses on an improved resource assignment management, which sets new standards for the translation industry through extensive automation and improved usability.
New assignment method Top Ranked: The ideal resource for every job
With the new assignment method Top Ranked, project managers can easily find the most suitable linguist for their translation jobs. Do you want to work with your preferred resource for this customer? Or is the price or the feedback on the resource’s previous jobs the deciding factor? The most important ranking criteria can be prioritised with a click of the mouse or via Drag&Drop. After clicking “Send job request”, the most suitable or preferred linguists will automatically receive job requests at the same time. The top ranked resource who accepts the request within the reaction time will be assigned and can immediately start working on the job. Thanks to the new assignment method, unnecessary e-mail correspondence can be avoided and the entire assignment process sped up.
Cascading job requests with VendorSearchManager Pro
A further highlight of Plunet 8.0 is the ability to send cascading job requests. The new additional module VendorSearchManager Pro makes this possible with automatic job rounds. Based on the relevant criteria (e.g. target language, area of expertise or type of service) the system sends requests to the most suitable resources for the job, one after the other. These new automatic assignment rounds can also be set as templates for recurring jobs. This means that as soon as they have been created, a single click is enough to start the entire automatic assignment process. The new VendorSearchManager PRO module not only simplifies the entire process, but also saves project managers valuable time, so that they can concentrate on other important tasks.
New resource search: More clarity and planning security
The new resource search is now integrated in the job itself. This reduces clicks and makes the entire assignment process much more intuitive than before. Selection criteria can be easily added or removed and suitable linguists can be sorted automatically according the defined ranking criteria, such as price, number of jobs already completed for customers, and job feedback. In this way, project managers can directly compare the most suitable linguists and assign them with just one click.
The resource calendar can now also be found in the Assignment tab. Thanks to a clear traffic light system, project managers can directly see which linguists are available immediately, soon or not at all. In this way, project planning is much easier and project managers have more planning security.
More additions to Plunet version 8.0:
• Individual job request expiry times for different job types
• Personalised job requests can be sent to multiple recipients at the same time
• Automatic archiving of projects after a defined period of time
• Multi-team projects can be visualised in the workflow editor
• Two new UI languages: Dutch and Simplified Chinese
• Sender of project delivery e-mails can be chosen in the e-mail template
• Automatic processes can be tracked in real time
• Status reports: Multiple time periods can be selected as filters
• Additional module ConfidentialityManager: Default confidentiality levels for new customers
• memoQManager | advanced: Machine translation can be selected directly in Plunet
• MemsourceManager | advanced: One Memsource client can be linked with multiple Plunet customers
• And much more...

Plunet’s Business and Translation Management System Version 5.6 Released
29/01/14 19:50
Berlin, January 29, 2014 – New year starts with the release of Version 5.6 of Plunet’s business and translation management system. The latest version features further developments of the system’s key project and business management functionalities. Professional translation agencies and language services using Plunet 5.6 will have a management software at their fingertips that offers the best possible support for the industry’s unique requirements.
Systematic Project Management in Plunet 5.6: Defining Master and Sub-Projects
The latest Plunet version allows the creation of a structured hierarchy with translation master projects and associated sub-projects. Translation agencies and language services are often faced with the challenge of having to create hierarchical structures for specific projects. The methodologies used in the industry can now be comprehensively and clearly mapped in Plunet 5.6. An order can be created in Plunet as a master project with the option to add any number of sub-projects: possible sub-projects could be associated orders, requests, or quotes. But that’s not all: the newly introduced hierarchy option can be of particular interest for agencies or translation departments working to a budget. In the new version, budgets are no longer assigned to individual orders only – but to master projects and their associated sub-projects instead. The new functionality furthermore generates automated warning messages when budget limits are exceeded, offers clearly definable budget entry and editing rights, and a history log for more security and traceability. It replaces the current forums in memoQ, memoQWebTrans and qTerm, allows individual discussions on project-related items, and enables customers to get involved in ensuring highest quality terminology and translations. The memoQ server, qTerm and memoQWebTrans can be installed with the same installer. Creating back-ups and moving servers to other computers will also be easier. By running an edit distance analysis, server users will be able to measure the efforts of reviewers and machine translation post-editors. Smaller features include multiple comments to segments, advanced highlighting, fuzzy terminology lookup, and performance metrics.
Using Language Terminal, freelance translators – no matter whether they are using memoQ or not – can manage their translation projects in an easier way. In addition to creating real-time previews for translating Adobe InDesign files, memoQ translator pro and Language Terminal users can create quotations immediately after analyzing documents, keep track of the jobs and payments of their customers, and archive projects, quotations, files in the cloud without having a third-party tool.
Other features for freelance translators include a new productivity booster that establishes the target equivalent of words and expressions based on statistical methods – also called the translating concordance – fuzzy lookup in term bases, automatic translation for number-only segments, an integrated web search, and many other productivity features. The new release also adds support for new file formats, including GetText PO files, the XLIFF:doc and TIPP package formats of the Interoperability Now! Initiative, and a TMX filter for enhanced management and review of translation memory contents.
More information on these concepts is available at http://kilgray.com.

Plunet BusinessManager Receives EN 15038 Certification
13/05/13 23:15
2013-05-13, Berlin, Germany
Plunet BusinessManager, the business and translation management system used by leading translation agencies, is now certified to the EN 15038:2006-08 quality standard. The certification was carried out by the renowned Austrian Standards Plus institute in accordance with the LICS® certification scheme and applies to the current Plunet version 5.4.
EN 15038-certified translation agencies and language service providers working with Plunet BusinessManager and completing the relevant training, will now ‘automatically’ meet the process criteria for the European standard, as these can be mapped in their entirety in Plunet.
+ Comprehensive mapping of EN 15038 with Plunet BusinessManager
Plunet CEO Peter Seltsam is delighted with the certification: “We are effectively covering each and every requirement of the standard with Plunet BusinessManager – which will result in direct benefits for many of our customers in their day-to-day business.” The graduate linguist and automation expert is particularly proud of the holistic approach of the program’s EN 15038 feature support, which encompasses business as well as translation processes: “We have placed particular emphasis on the request, quote, and order management, which represent the core aspects of project management. The Plunet job and workflow management also allows the seamless mapping of the actual translation process – of course always in accordance with the requirements of EN 15038”, Peter Seltsam explains.
In addition to these core components, Plunet BusinessManager also fulfills all other elements of the standard. These include the administration of customer agreements and project information, the measurement of customer satisfaction, a professional complaints management system, and also a resource management and rating system. Another highlight well worth mentioning: in addition to the EN 15038 standard, Plunet meets all requirements of ISO 9001:2008, and also ISO 17100 Translation Services – Requirements for translation services, which is set to come into force in the near future.

Terminotix Adds Statistical Machine Translation to Product Line
12/04/13 20:35
Terminotix adds machine translation to its products arsenal by signing a contract with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) for reselling and for supporting PORTAGE.
PORTAGE is a statistics-based software system that yields far better results than earlier attempts to automate the highly nuanced art of translation. PORTAGE is a "statistical learning translation" program that improves its translating accuracy the more it’s used.
Statistical machine translation systems use pre-existing bodies of documents produced by professional translators, along with statistical probability matching, in an effort to produce draft translations. By continually feeding completed translations by professional translators back in, the knowledge base grows, increasing the probability of higher-quality output in the future. In essence the system does not translate; rather, it predicts a potential translation based on the input of previously translated and revised work done by humans.
The PORTAGE system is one of the initiatives of Roadmap for Linguistic Duality of the Government of Canada and was developed by the National Research Council. PORTAGE is the outcome of a research to create a robust and adaptable system built on machine learning techniques. In international competitions, PORTAGE has come out near the very top.
PORTAGE is directly accessible through the Terminotix Toolbar in MS-Word and is directly integrated into LogiTerm, Terminotix translation software.
PORTAGE also offers a SOAP interface allowing integration with any translation memory or with any other platform.

memoQfest USA a Major Success Among Participants
02/03/13 06:33
Kilgray Translation Technologies held its first ever American user conference on January 31 - February 2, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. As with the highly successful memoQfest conferences that have been held in Europe for several years, the level of interaction among participants exceeded Kilgray’s expectations and contributed to the success of the event.
“memoQfest was probably the best investment US Translation Company has made in TM technology since purchasing memoQ”, said Claudia Hernandez from US Translation Company. The conference - just like its well-established European counterpart - started with an open account of where Kilgray stands and an update on their technology. Companies like XTRF, Plunet, Easyling, GlobalMe and Asia Online presented their integrations with memoQ. Besides presentations by industry leaders on various topics like business innovation, machine translation or technology deployment, the conference also had many interactive sessions. Of particular interest were the huddles, where teams of 8-15 participants discussed specific issues - terminology, system administration aspects, game localization, feature requests - in the hotel lobby with a Kilgray representative. “Really wonderful to learn who you are, what you are doing, and why you are doing it! The presentations were excellent and I would rather attend your future conferences than most other conferences.”, added David L. Shelton from Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.
Every participant who answered the evaluation sheet was satisfied with the event, and they were particularly impressed with the organization and the networking possibilities. “memoQfest was a great opportunity to meet with other users and learn about features that can improve efficiency”, said Tamara Kislak from Venga Corporation.
The conference was sponsored by technology vendors Easyling, Plunet, and XTRF and by the translation company STP Nordic. Kilgray has plans to organize memoQfest USA again in 2014.
About Kilgray
Kilgray Translation Technologies is the fastest growing technology provider in the translation industry. According to Deloitte’s Fast 500 list, Kilgray was the 222nd fastest growing technology company in Europe and the Middle-East in 2012.
All products of Kilgray - memoQ, memoQ server, qTerm and memoQWebTrans - facilitate, accelerate and optimize the entire translation process. The networked translation suites of Kilgray are team-oriented and designed for the use of small translation teams as well as large enterprises.

Kilgray Expands its Development Team
04/02/13 17:09
Kilgray Translation Technologies, a company dedicated to the development of translation productivity tools, welcomes new employees and expands its development team as a result of the company’s continued growth: Monika Antunovics (formerly Microsoft) and Florian Sachse (formerly SDL Passolo) joined Kilgray in January 2013.
Monika Antunovics comes to Kilgray from Microsoft, where she spent more than a decade, first in the language quality assurance team and later as an international project manager in the Windows group. In the former role she was an advocate and early practitioner of modern terminology management, and she drove the successful implementation of an automated system for collecting and analyzing language quality assurance data, which she designed and partly implemented herself. As a program manager, she was responsible for local content in Windows, as well as testing localization quality and compatibility with local software and websites. Monika has a background in computer sciences and is fluent in five languages. Monika’s main duties include the design of some of memoQ’s new features and the management of some of Kilgray’s larger accounts.
Prior to joining Kilgray, Florian Sachse was one of the founders and the managing director of PASS Engineering GmbH, a business unit of SDL. He was also one of the chief developers of SDL Passolo, a tool dedicated to software localization. Within SDL Passolo, Florian’s focus was Microsoft .NET and he has given several .NET "Ask the Expert" sessions for the Institute of Localization Professionals (TILP). Florian is a member of diverse organizations such as OASIS, GALA and TILP. He was one of the partners in the European Union projects IGNITE, DANDELION and eColoTrain, all dedicated to standards in the localization process.
Florian enjoys sharing his knowledge with interested audiences by both speaking at conferences, and related events, or by authoring articles on software internationalization and localization. Florian joined to the Kilgray team as a senior developer and will contribute with his expertise to the success of memoQ.

Kilgray Translation Technologies, translation productivity tool developer, has announced the availability of memoQ 4.5.
Kilgray’s memoQ 4.5 brings unprecedented productivity to freelance translators and language service providers who want clean translation memories or who are newcomers to translation technology. Introducing the concepts of LiveAlign™, ActiveTm™, Library™ and ezAttach™, memoQ 4.5 revolutionizes management of Translation Memory and reference documents, and ensures quicker turnaround times, while maintaining both tool performance and quality of translation. The TM indexing engine has been completely rewritten to meet clients' requirements: the new translation memory supports simultaneous read/write access, target language concordancing, two-way translation memories, and is optimized for translation memories or reference documents of up to 2 million units. This is available in both client and server editions.
After re-thinking the concept of online team translation projects, even those who don't have constant internet access to online resources can still work effectively on collaborative translation projects. Using a brand new alignment algorithm, memoQ 4.5 will search many additional elements during alignment, including formatting and terminology.
MyMemory joins the successful Eurotermbank integration as the second data provider to be integrated into memoQ. When enabled, this module gives results from translated.net's MyMemory, containing over 416 million segments.
Further improvements are mobile license management for online projects, more convenient project management interfaces, exportable Quality Assurance reports, ability to change serial numbers, increased support for XLIFF statuses, and 50 other smaller enhancements.

memoQ server technology strengthens Milengo’s global reach
24/07/10 04:34
Milengo, a global language service provider (LSP), and Hungarian partner espell have joined forces with translation technology specialist Kilgray to trial memoQ with one of Milengo’s largest clients.
memoQ is an advanced translation workflow environment that is quickly gaining popularity among LSPs and corporate translation departments seeking increases in efficiency and profitability through advanced translation technology.
Working with files in their original format or prepared in other translation tools, memoQ delivers important productivity gains for translators and project managers alike. By centralizing the management of all linguistic assets, memoQ improves output quality and delivers long-term savings through the re use of previous translations. memoQ is available as either a stand-alone version or in an online server environment.
‘Selecting the right tools for the job is key to our flexible approach to localization projects’ said Renato Beninatto, CEO and Chief Instigator at Milengo ‘Remaining technology independent gives Milengo the ability to manage a wide range of localization projects and allows us react quickly to the needs of our clients’. The Milengo memoQ trial began recently and is already proving extremely effective, delivering gains in productivity and output quality. ‘Streamlining our workflow with tools like memoQ gives Milengo a clear competitive advantage’ said Renato ‘It also provides clients with an overview of our workflow process allowing us to work collaboratively with them in a way that’s going to revolutionize our industry’
Miklos Ban, CEO of espell, Milengo’s Language Technology Centre, has been working closely with Kilgray and memoQ since 2008. ‘memoQ is a fantastic tool and we’ve been using it on our own projects for a while now,’ said Miklos. ‘In today’s fast paced marketplace, it is especially important that we offer our customers responsive, adaptable workflows and tap into the power of collaborative translation to process high volumes of work quickly. This is why we recommended memoQ to our global partners at Milengo.’
Gabor Farago, espell’s Translation Technology Architect is responsible for testing and managing migration from SDL Trados. ‘memoQ provides us with affordable, state-of-the-art server technology and flexible terminology management, which we’ve needed for some time’ said Gabor. ‘Moving existing Trados translation memories to memoQ turned out to be much smoother than expected, and now memoQ’s powerful alignment, terminology, QA and client review features enable our customers to single-source a wider range of integrated services from us.’
espell and Milengo have also been impressed by the continued support provided by their technology partners at Kilgray. Miklos added, ‘If we have a need for support, Kilgray is always quick to respond. It’s clear to us that, like Milengo and espell, Kilgray is a very customer-focused organization, something we value highly. We’re very pleased with the way memoQ is performing and we’re looking forward to the enhanced functionality Kilgray is planning to add in the future.’

Hever Translators’ Pool deploys Kilgray’s memoQ server technology
07/06/10 16:18
Hever Translators’ Pool to invest in Kilgray’s memoQ server technology.
Hever Translators’ Pool the leading translation service provider in Israel, purchased Kilgray’s memoQ server technology due to its remarkable cost-effectiveness, the attentiveness of the developers to the end-users, and Kilgray's outstanding technical support. Using the memoQ server, they have gained centralized control over TMs and term bases, and increased the number of translators who use CAT tools on a regular basis.
Summarizing all the benefits, together with the online document storage, the memoQ server has allowed them to handle large-volume projects without too much technical hassle and improve the quality of services significantly.
About Hever Translators' Pool
Over 50 years ago Hever Translators’ Pool was among the first translation service companies established in Israel. Working with highly skilled employees, and providing a variety of professional, top quality services, the company is a market leader among language service providers.
Translation means much more at Hever Translators’ Pool than converting texts from one language into another. Professional translation requires a full understanding of complex texts, the ability to use the correct terminology, and familiarity with linguistic nuances. In addition, it requires the ability to make changes depending on the specific target language and its culture, while still conveying the spirit and the depths of meaning of the original. These are the principles that have guided Hever Translators’ Pool throughout the last 50 years.
Hever Translators’ Pool is ISO-9002 certified, and is a member of the American Translators Association.

100 Days of PASSOLO 6.0
25/09/06 10:58
100 Days of PASSOLO 6.0
The current version of the award-winning localization tool has already established itself as a standard.
(Bonn, 20 September 2006) PASS Engineering is presently celebrating the first 100 successful days of PASSOLO 6.0. The consistently positive echo from customers and the clear increase in sales for the German software company show that PASSOLO’s new features are exactly what the market really needs. “Compared with the first half of the year, our turnover has increased by another 40%,” says Claudia Fricke, Business Development Manager of PASS Engineering
One key factor for the success of the new version is the extended support for Microsoft.NET, now including Framework 2.0; customer demand for this feature has been enormous. Other features such as the HTML editor and networking functionality have also attracted a lot of customers. “What all the innovations of this version have in common,” says Fricke, “is that they help users save time, and money. And the users have recognized and acknowledged these benefits.”
.NET localization is going to be the focus of a workshop by the managing director of PASS Engineering and TILP professional Florian Sachse to be held prior to the coming Localization World Conference in Montreal (16-18 October 2006): Sachse’s workshop “How to master .NET Localization” will provide a practical introduction on how to handle .NET in the localization process.
About PASS Engineering
PASS Engineering GmbH, located in Bonn, Germany, has been in business since 1990. Their focus was initially in the development of medical-technical software, but later shifted to the field of software localization.
In the context of globalization, software localization plays a key role: localization tools like PASSOLO present the translatable data so that it can be edited in a simple but secure way. By leveraging already translated strings it is possible to accelerate the time-to-market cycle. The Add-in concept allows data exchange between PASSOLO and other tools relevant to the localization process.
For further information on PASSOLO, please refer to www.passolo.com or contact PASS Engineering GmbH, Remigiusstraße 1, 53111 Bonn (Germany), phone: +49 228 697242, fax: +49 228 697104, e-mail: info@passolo.com.
